The mother of a 19-year-old man who was shot and killed inside Nordstrom at the Mall of America in 2022 has filed a wrongful death lawsuit alleging the businesses are liable for negligent security and failure to protect him, according to a court filing. The lawsuit, which stems from the killing of Johntae Hudson, after a fight at Nordstrom escalated to a shooting. According to court documents, five people later were arrested and charged for their role in the shooting. Taeshawn Adams-Wright and Lavon Longstreet, who were both 17-years-old at the time of the shooting, later pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and were both sentenced to 30 years in jail.
